First sail for Sponsors and Supporters
It was still a bit wet and cold when the three J/70 keelboats approached the small harbour of the Norddeutsche Regattaverein at the Alster lake yesterday evening. With temperatures of around 5 degrees and last bits of ice still melting away, sailing wasn’t the obvious choice on how to spend a Thursday afternoon. The faces of the J/70-crews, however, told a totally different story. Bright smiles enlightened the Clubhouse of the NRV when AAR-Project manager Arne Hirsch present the sailors with the results of their Regatta. The crews consisted of representatives from AAR-sponsors and partners, namely Lufthansa, PwC, Marinepool, Goslings Rum, Gummig, Ernst Kabel Druck, Deutsche Yachten, Schmidt Yachts, KAEFFER Schiffsbau, HC Hagemann and Lürssen.
Before the sailing, a workshop was held which provided an opportunity for everybody involved with the AAR to exchange thoughts and ibrainstorm on how to bring about the final preparation of the race in Bermuda, and the Race Village in Hamburg.
“I am very happy with the current state of preparations and today marked a perfect chance to provide our sponsors and supporters with an update on the Status-Quo”, commented Arne Hirsch. “To realise a project of the size of the AAR is always a tremendous challenge for participants and organizers. We are therefore very grateful to have the strong support of our sponsors and partners without whom the regatta will not be possible.”
After the price-giving ceremony the sailors enjoyed a delightful dinner at the NRV clubhouse to round-off the day. The first start of the AAR is set for July 1st, 2018.
